Cake Autumn: Two and Three

So my mad three weeks of baking have finally come to an end which means that you should hear a bit more from me from now on than you have done of late.

This was the cake I made for my new Goddaughter's christening:



And this was the grand finale for the gorgeous partnership ceremony of two friends at the weekend:






So now I can turn my attention back to our much neglected flat!

Cake Autumn: Number One

I am part way through three weeks of consecutive cake making at the moment. I made the cake for the lovely wedding of one of my school friends in Wiltshire last weekend. It was a nice one to make as it involved lots of sugar flowers which are always fun.


I know some of you have asked about how I make the roses before. At some point I will do a tutorial but in the meantime there is a brilliant set of demo videos on YouTube which I have followed in the past. Here is part one to whet your appetite:



I am making a Christening cake this week and a wedding cake the week after so more cake posts to follow!

Lytham St Annes Wedding

Once again I realise I have been a bit quiet of late. I have been busy baking cupcakes for the wedding of two gorgeous friends that I attended this weekend gone in Lytham St Annes, near Blackpool. It was a wonderful day and the happy couple looked absolutely made up. Thankfully the cakes survived the seven hour drive from South East London!

Talented Lady

I have sang the praises of our wedding photographer, Lucy Hackett, before on here but she has just revamped her website so I hope you don't mind me posting the link again. She only recently started her business and we were her second clients (we were lucky enough to be recommended her by another photographer who wasn't available for our date) but she was truly amazing and we were both very chuffed with the photos of our big day. If you are planning a wedding or, like me, just can't get enough of wedding porn then her site is well worth a gander. The full set of our photos is on there.

Ahhh - takes me back!

Our Wedding

Rather excitingly our wedding, which took place in West Sussex last summer, has been featured in this month's You and Your Wedding Magazine. Looking at the pictures has brought the day flooding back in all its glory and I thought I would take the opportunity to post some of our beautiful photos taken by the very talented Lucy Hackett. We had our reception in a village hall and anything that we could make ourselves we did. I made the stationary, the cake, yards of bunting, the adult bridesmaids dresses, decorated the hall with the help of a crack team comprised of friends and family and I also did all the bouquets and flower arrangements. I am only a basic sewer and have a very rudimentary knowledge of floristry but we weren't too worried about things looking slightly rough around the edges - we just wanted the day to be very personal and in the end I was so proud of what we achieved.

Sunday Sanding

This was a significant Sunday as I said goodbye to my beautiful Jenny Packham wedding dress:



My natural instincts are to hoard everything but it just seemed a crime to squirrel such a beautiful dress under my bed. So I sold it to a very like minded bride to be who looked absolutely stunning in it. I hope it will make her as happy as it made me and I am delighted that it is going to have a life after my wedding

After that it was back to tackling our hall:




I have made inroads with the sanding but am going to wait for a day when our downstairs neighbours are out and about to tackle it properly because it aint quiet! Nonetheless I am pleased that the boards look like they are going to come up a treat and with a coat of white floor paint our hall should finally be the welcoming space we want it to be.
